Lodging & Dining

Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch is a historic oasis in the Tonto National Forest. The ranch lies along the Lower Salt River just below the ten-mile-long Saguaro Lake, in the shadow of the scenic Goldfield Mountains.

The main ranch house has a wide porch overlooking a shaded lawn with a full view of the imposing Bulldog cliffs. In its early days, the lodge functioned as the mess hall, ice house, and commissary for the construction crew who lived on the site while building the Stewart Mountain Dam from 1927 to 1930.

The central feature of our dining room is a giant saguaro cactus skeleton which used to stand at the bottom of Saguaro Lake. Seating for 60 is available at tables of four to ten surrounding the cactus. Look closely and you’ll also notice a hand-crafted slate rock fireplace with a built-in old-fashioned bread warmer.

If you’re searching for AZ guest ranches, you’ll discover our ranch is the perfect place to relax and escape hectic city life. We don’t have TVs, radios, clocks, or phones in our 20 guest cabins for that very reason (although those amenities are available in the main lodge.)

Even though we are a rustic ranch, our rooms are well-maintained, quaint, and decorated in a western style. All have their own bathrooms, and each is heated and air conditioned. Please note that our cancellation policy is 48 hours.

Our breakfasts are wonderfully prepared from scratch in our ranch kitchen, using fresh ingredients. We serve our meal “buffet” style in our unique dining room, with tables and chairs surrounding a giant saguaro cactus skeleton.

Our Bed & Breakfast Plan includes only breakfast. Enjoy our “cowboy” breakfast with eggs, bacon or sausage, potatoes, yogurt, fresh fruit, orange juice and coffee/tea. We also serve one of the following each morning – blueberry pancakes, banana French toast, or apple waffles, with butter and syrup.
